A Message from our Chair
We are still here, Anderson County! Clearly, the 2024 election results nationwide were discouraging and the political upheaval since then terror-inducing. After we’ve thrown our hands up in despair, however, we can take heart that all is not lost and there are ways that we can create change. First, recall that although Democrats suffered sound defeats across the board in elected positions in Kentucky in 2024, we were overwhelmingly successful in rejecting the proposed Constitutional Amendment 2, which would have wreaked havoc on the budgets of Kentucky public school systems. Kentuckians have indicated their support for public education, an important tenet of the Democratic platform. It was through the grass-roots movements of thousands of motivated Kentuckians using venues like this website and others such as protectourschoolsky.com, which still remain active, that the efforts of a supermajority legislature were thwarted. The moral of the story is this: the work of a dedicated few can chip away at ideologies, but the voices of thousands united can move mountains!
And there are ways that YOU can chip away. Consider 2025, an off-election year, your chance to deepen your personal education and commitment to your Democratic ideals. Especially if you are swearing off cable television, you are highly recommended to follow Heather Cox Richardson, a professor of history at Boston College for accurate, incisive information about daily political events at https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com. For Kentucky updates, subscribe to https://kentuckylantern.com. And, for a fast, effective way to communicate your voice to your elected officials, download the App “5 Calls”, which provides you with a script by topic to send a message to your chosen legislator. More information is located in the Resources and Links page of this website. You will be needed in 2026; arming yourself with this knowledge will better enhance your level of participation.
Additionally, and most importantly, in 2025 you can participate in the Kentucky Democratic Party Reorganization (“Re-org”) process, which is generally held every four years. During this time, leaders are elected to help recruit Democratic candidates, support candidates and volunteers, and help shape the Democratic platform. In Anderson County, sometime at the end of April or beginning of May (as determined by the State Central Committee), we will get together as precincts then as a county to elect our Anderson County Democratic Executive Committee for the next four years. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:30-2:30, in the Anderson County
Public Library, we will get together as precincts, then as a county to elect our Anderson County Democratic Executive Committee for the next four years. ANY Democrat residing and registered to vote within the county may run for a County Executive Committee position.
And, as always, regular donations are welcomed and needed to promote your Anderson County Democratic Party!

Our new Anderson County Spirit of Shaping the Future includes an encouragement of all those of Democratic inclination to consider running for offices, whether they be local, state or national. Today we may be planting a seed; tomorrow you may be part of the leadership that creates the change we wish to see!
They tried to bury us. They didn’t realize we were seeds.
It has long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.
